Here we go! On July 15th, 2024 we officially kicked off construction of Revision West’s first home for the “Missing Middle” on our Cass St property in Monterey using Shibusa Systems’ leading-edge and game-changing Precision Component Onsite Assembly process.
Going vertical has been progressing at such a fast pace that our time-lapse video speaks volumes. Building has gone smoothly thanks to our 6-person team, including 3 experienced Shibusa builders from Louisiana (birthplace of Shibusa Systems) training 3 new builders from California with no prior experience using this unique system. 2 of the new team members are 19-year old recent graduates from Rancho Cielo who easily learned the system, enabling them to quickly become integral members of the first California Shibusa Build Team. The speed and quality of the build has truly validated the system for us.
This system is about so much more than just speed – Shibusa Systems produces very little waste (less than 5% waste factor as compared to over 30% with conventional construction), which means no dumpster on site, significant cost and resource savings, and a more environmentally-friendly approach. The photo below shows the total amount of waste for 3 weeks of construction, (a significant amount of which is waste from lunches and breaks) including materials that can and will be recycled.
